Hair 411: Volumizing Essentials
Big hair is huge right now (well actually if you ask me, big hair is always in). Celebrities like the Kardashian’s, Jennifer Lopez, Lilly Ghalichi and model Candice Swanepoel are constantly photographed rocking big, voluminous hairstyles. Here are some of my favorite products for creating voluminous everyday hair.
L’Oreal EverStyle Volume Boosting Mousse
I was never a big fan of mousse – until I tried this one. I use this mousse when I let my hair air dry, towel dry, before blowdrying, or once my hair is already styled. It smells great and adds a ton of volume! Plus, it’s very inexpensive at drugstores.
Victoria’s Secret Hold Please Volume Shine Hairspray
First of all, like most VS products, this smells amazing! It also works wonders for dull flat hair. I love spraying this in my hair after straightening – it starts adding volume instantly. It really helps to create body and bounce!
Big Sexy Hair Blow Dry Volumizing Gel
I got a sample size of this product in my Ipsy bag a few months ago. I never really used gel in my hair. I always thought gel caused a crunchy, hard texture. This product does quite the opposite. I love applying this before blowdrying. I apply a very small amount to my entire head – paying special attention to the roots. I have very naturally oily hair so I usually avoid applying products into my roots but this gel does not cause me any problems!
The number 1 way to get big, bouncy, voluminous hair? TEASE! I believe teasing works better than any product out there. I usually tease the “4 corners” of my head – the 2 sides in the front and the 2 sides in the back. Trust me, your teasing comb can become your best friend.
Dry Shampoo is a great way to add volume to second day or oily, dull hair. Tresemme’s Fresh Start and Lush’s No Drought are two of my favorites. I will add Dry Shampoo to my hair after I’m out all day and it starts to get flat!
