Valentine’s Day Smokey Eye

love33With February 14th right around the corner I wanted to share this Valentine’s Day inspired makeup look. It’s pink smokey eye using all pink, purple, and black shades. I used my Sephora MicroSmooth Baked Collection Palette. I got this palette last Christmas but they still have similar ones available. They usually have their bigger palettes (like this one) available around the holidays but they have quite a few smaller baked eyeshadow palettes online. First color used – light pink color in 3rd row, Second color used – sparkly side of the blush, Third –  dark plum color next to the first, Fourth color -middle black color in the bottom row.

Lightest pink color and Plum Shade

As always, I started by priming my eyes using Urban Decay’s Primer Potion. Next, I took the light pink color and applied it all over my lid. To start building the smokey eye, I then took the third shade (dark plum next to the light pink in the palette). I applied this to the outer corner of my eye and up through the crease. I used my large fluffy eyeshadow brush to blend the 2 colors together. I prefer my smokey eye to look pretty natural so I constantly blend to avoid harsh lines. Next, I took the pink blush shade and applied it to the middle section of my lid. I again blended the shades together to get rid of any harsh lines. Last, I took the darkest black shade on a smaller eyeshadow brush and applied it into the outer corner in a V-shape. I like to gradually add to my smokey eye so I add a little black, blend, add a little more, blend, add some more, etc. until I achieve the perfect look. It is much easier to add the color gradually then to put too much and have to try to get rid of some. Since the first pink color is so light, I also used it as a inner corner and brow bone highlight.

For my eyeliner, I used a black liquid eyeliner and applied it my upper lashline. Using a black kohl liner, I also tightlined my upper lashline. I then took the 3rd plum shade on a small angled brush and smudged it into the lower lashline as a bottom eyeliner. Lastly, I curled my lashes and applied mascara (I used L’Oreal Telescopic and Clinique High Impact Mascara). I usually prefer wearing a Nude lip but since it is Valentine’s Day, I used my Maybelline Color Whisper in  Rose of Attraction for a nice pinkish/redish tint.
