Recent Beauty Buys

So I’ve been on a serious beauty shopping binge lately. Well actually, this is nothing new because I’m always on a beauty shopping binge. But this one doesn’t count because hey – if you’re single on Valentine’s Day, what better way to spoil yourself with all the money you’re saving on not buying a significant other a present than to buy tons and tons of beauty products for yourself? Right?? Everything is either from Sephora or Christmas Tree Shops (with one purchase from Urban Outfitters). For those of you who don’t have Christmas Tree Shops, they sell drugstore makeup that can be bought at any Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid, etc. (The plus side of Christmas Tree Shops is they sell makeup for a lot cheaper than most drugstores so if you have one near you I definitely recommend buying makeup there!)

The first thing I got from Sephora was this Benefit Go Tropi Coral set. It comes with Benefit’s Coralista Blush, a mini High Beam Highlighter, Cha Cha Tint (tinted lip and cheek stain), and  Coralista Lip Gloss. I’ve always wanted to try Benefit’s Coralista Blush because I’ve heard great things about it but I think this purchase came from my eagerness for summer and warm weather. This whole set was $28 which is really good for 4 different Benefit products. They all come in smaller almost sample sizes but I actually really like that aspect of it. I have the High Beam Highlighter in the larger size and I love it (I’ve also had it forever). I love that I now have a smaller one because it’s much easier to carry around with me. Since buying this, Coralista is my new obsession. It’s a beautiful light pink sheen blush with a coral tint and a little shimmer. I could also see using this as a highlight. It’s the perfect blush for Spring/Summer.

This is another Sephora steal that I am super excited about! I’ve been wanting to try Fresh products for awhile now. However, they are usually very pricey so I was always skeptical about spending that type of money on beauty products I had never tried before. I got this set as my 500 Beauty Insider Point gift. I was SO excited when I saw that this was one of the rewards so I jumped on it right away. It came with the Soy Face Cleanser, Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream, and Seaberry Moisturizing Face Oil. (So far I’ve only used the face cream and face oil as I just got this a few days ago) I’m obsessed with the Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream. First of all, I love the smell. It smells like cucumbers and flowers which for some reason I can’t get enough of. As soon as I put this on my skin, I can feel it working. It is an awesome moisturizer and leaves your skin feeling soft and just fresh (no pun intended). I also really like the Seaberry Moisturizing Face Oil. It smells like strawberries and seeds. (That was a really bad explanation but it seriously does!) You only need about 1 drop of this (I used 3 drops the first time I used it and looked like an oily mess). It’s really moisturizing and also leaves skin extremely soft and refreshed. All of these products are meant to preserve youthful skin.

Ordering from Sephora.com is amazing because you get TONS of free samples! The are the samples I got.

My last Sephora purchase was this Sephora Metallic Glow Lip Shine in Peach Glow. I never used to wear lipgloss but recently I’ve been really liking it. I am obsessed with nude color lip products but I’ve also been loving light pink/coral colors (of pretty much everything if you can’t tell – eager for Spring much?) This Peach Glow Lip Shine is a beauuuutiful color. It’s very pigmented and lasts forever, which I find most lip gloss don’t. It is a very rich light pink/peach color with a goldish tint. It gives just the right amount of glow and also doesn’t have that normal sticky lip gloss feel which I really like. I love it. The next lip product I bought was NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Sweet Heart. This color is a light bubblegum pink color. It’s another beautiful color. The texture of this is more sticky than the Sephora Lip Shine (more of a normal lip gloss texture). However, I’ve heard great things about NYX lip products and I was super excited to try them (NYX products are usually hard to find in stores by me). I also bought this Real Techniques Stippling Brush. Even though I think this brush is meant for foundation, I’ve been using it to apply my bronzer.  I really like it! Real Techniques brushes never dissapoint but this is the perfect size to give me a great natural contour. The blush I bought is the Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Rose Petal. This is a really pretty coral color that I think I will love using in the warm weather. I’ve been wanting to try a cream blush because I’ve heard that they stay on for much longer than powder blushes. However, the texture of this blush is definitely going to take some getting used too. It’s very squishy and doesn’t go on very well with a brush so I would recommend using your finger to apply.

Most of these face and body products I bought are just boring parts of my daily routine. I bought Cetaphil, which is my everyday face wash, and the Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Wipes which I also use on a daily bases. I bought this adorable tiny little Vaseline Lip Therapy with Cocoa Butter and a Nivea Soft Moisturizing Cream that I like to carry in my purse as hand lotion. I also got this Olay Age Defying Night Cream. I actually really like this for a drugstore face cream. It mositurizes without irritating my sensitive skin. The last thing I bought was the Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray. I’ve been wanting a sea salt spray for my hair and found this one in Urban Outfitters. I’ve been really into messy waves lately and I really like using this to acheive that look!
