Get your Green On: St. Paddy’s Day

cropped finish

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I love St. Patrick’s Day. It’s probably one of my favorite days of the year (kinda weird, I know). Between all the green, irish music, irish food, and beer – I just think it’s a blast. (Plus I’m Irish and it’s around my birthday!) St. Patrick’s Day seems to be one of those holidays/celebrations that a lot of people don’t really change their makeup for. Green eyeshadow can be a little intimidating to people who don’t usually wear bright colors – including myself! I wore this green and gold eye look last weekend for a parade. It has just a pop of green and is super easy – yet it still looks great and gets you in the festive Irish spirit!

To start, I primed my eyes using Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. I’m always out all day when I celebrate St. Patrick’s Day so I definitely want my makeup to last! I used my BH Cosmetics Day & Night Palette for this look. To start, I combined a bright gold and bronze color all over my lid (the two eyeshadows circled next to each other in the picture above). I wanted to keep the top of my eyes fairly simple but still wanted to add some gold to make it festive.

Next, I used a matte brown (I usually use my bronzer) to start defining my crease. I then took the darker bronze color and blended it up into my crease. As always, I kept blending with my fluffy brush until I achieved my desired look. Now for the fun part – I took the shimmery green shade on a pencil brush and pressed it into my lower lashline. This gives you just a pop of color but really spices up the look! I prefer a smokier look so I blended with my brush to smoke it out. I then used my Maybelline Master Precise Eyeliner to draw a very thin line on my upper lashline. Next, I curled my lashes and applied several coats of my favorite mascara (L’Oreal Telescopic). Lastly, I used this pretty white color with gold undertones (from the Pop Beauty Bright Up Your Life Trio) as my innercorner and browbone highlight. And that’s it! You’re all set and ready to get your Irish on!
